Hello Stefano

Yes, ZOO-Project can be very usefull to run GDAL algorithms or other C
library as WPS services.

Some basics GDAL exemples are available on the svn trunk:
http://zoo-project.org/trac/browser/trunk/zoo-project/zoo-services/gdal

You should be able to compile and install on any Linux distrib. I remember
some CentOS install guide was written long ago:
http://zoo-project.org/docs/kernel/install-centos.html

And yes, you can use WMS or WFS from/to Geoserver or MapServer with your
ZOO install.

Do not hesitate to post on this list again to get help or to share your
experience using ZOO.
