[AtlanticCanada] "I need a map..."

Jeff,

Who has committed to compete in the WMS benchmarking this year? Has ESRI or ERDAS decided to join Mapserver and GeoServer? I found it very interesting that ESRI pulled out of the benchmark at FOSS4G 2009 with only about one week to spare. IMHO ESRI should have shown up for the benchmark and taken their lumps and used it as encouragement to improve their WMS performance. I am currently going through a process to optimize our ESRI map documents and map services to see if we can get the ESRI ArcGIS Server WMS performance up to an acceptable level. I must add that some of the reason for the poor WMS performance that we are experiencing with ArcGIS server is due to the poor configuration of our map documents (our own fault).

Regards,
Bernie.

I found out today that the OSM community has a rock star...and in fact I
have been working with him for the past 2 months on the upcoming WMS
Benchmarking presentation at FOSS4G in Barcelona, yet I had no idea, we
have never even met in person :)

This was taken at the recent State of The Map conference in Spain:
