Thanks Dave, that is critical insight. Based on the workshop and lab
proposals, something very similar will be necessary. We also have a
better picture of the Convention Centre IT systems now, so can now
implement such a "system" 

One thing we did consider was allowing a dual boot on each PC, but this
may not be ideal - each Linux proposal requires different distros...
