Just an FYI - I've got a few balls in the air that I'm waiting to fall and see
where they land.  

One is watching the North America OSGeo chapter [1] whose
mandate will be to run a North America open source geo event, likely
also in the spring.  It would be good to make it a place for academics to 
meet with others.   

Otherwise the other opportunity was adding onto
Phillip's event in May.  I'm watching both while juggling a few other things.
Hoping things solidify at my end over the next couple weeks and hence be
able to help with planning them.

More to come, but thought it apt to share since I have the edu group in mind
still!
