Hi All

We have had some exciting presenters volunteering for the outreaches. Please have a look at
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/FOSS4G_2008_Activities for the new times/ideas.

Hi Alize and LOC list, my response as >

1) Technical tours : The ISSA visit in Houwtec might take a bit longer and result in the delegates only getting to the CTICC @ 13h00. Is this to late for Lunch? Can we organise with CTICC? Else I must organise with ISSA to do a finger lunch there. However this is then additional costs. What is your opinion?

>This is cutting it fine as some people may need to get on a bus to a UCT workshop. It might work IF all those tour people are staying for workshops at the CTICC and the bus isn't any later than that. Else it must leave earlier in the morning or cut the tour shorter.

Alize, Petro, Graeme: Please edit the http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/FOSS4G_2008_Programme wiki to specify all bus departure and arrival times from all venues.

2)Education tours update :

Sunday 28th September = ??????????
Street Mapping party
Mikel Maron from OSM is running with this, we need to help them with ideas on a location they may use?

> This is an OSM event and we are just telling people about it. All organisation is happening on their wiki and lists. They seem to be settling on Hout Bay. See:

2) Need 1/2 presenters on one of the following topics still :
Option 1. Map-aware where basic map skills are limited
Option 2.Demos of internet examples for grades 10 - 12 for teachers who don't want to learn GIS but want to know where to find examples to use in the classroom.
Option 3. Hands-on exposure to GIS

Friday session at Rondevlei = Done?
Carrin, Is everything organised with Bronwen Foster?

> Carrin?

Friday sessions at Bishop = Urgently in search of 1 presenter
Need 1 presenter urgently here as we have a full house of geography teachers attending. If all else fail I'm getting GIMS? *Option 4. Hands-on demo for geography teachers with exercises they can implement back in school. Talk on what is happening in the international scene with GIS in Education. Exposure to OS GIS software.

We have e-mailed Graeme's workshop list, the OSM guy's and NSIF and only received 1 taker for the student session on Friday @ UCT Environmental lab.

Any suggestions on presenters?

> The OSGeo Edu list has been notified and I've asked the OSM guys and others. Please all approach your contacts and we can announce at the conference as well and put up at the Registration desk.
