Noureddine,

I tried running gdalinfo -mm under valgrind on the ottawa patch image, and
it didn't identify any illegitimate memory use on Linux.  I did find a few
minor memory leaks for which I have committed fixes, but these should not
explain a crash.

Could you try and dig into the problem from your end a bit more?
