[Gdal-dev] reading grass file

hello, 
 
i wrote a method for reading a map with the gdal library which works well for 
reading pcidsk-files. 
 
no i tried to read grass maps. i run: 
 
./configure --with-grass=/usr/local/lib 
make 
make install (as superuser) 
 
when i run my programm i get: 
 
ERROR 4: `/home/sabine/grass/grassdata/oetztal/sabine/dem' does not exist in 
the file system, and is not recognised as a supported dataset name. 
 
i suppose i make any simple beginners mistake. do you have an idea how to read 
my file?
