[Gdal-dev] debugging gdal errors

Hello, Does anyone know how to debug an error like this:

# gdal_translate one.tif two.tif
Input file size is 24001, 13201
0..10..20..30..40..50..60..70.ERROR 1: one.tif:0: Invalid strip byte 
count, strip 9601
ERROR 1: TIFFReadEncodedStrip() failed.

...snip...

Looking at one.tif with openev seems to work.
