[gdal-dev] Using VSIMEM properly

Technically in want to save time by not saving to disk. That is one of the main reasons that i want to save in memory. I tried chaning them using pipes but didnt work.

   - save the output into a (real) file   

   - keep using vsimem, but chain the operations while the app is still running   

Do you have any particular reason to use vsimem?
