David, Martin, thanks for your notes and support

About the "not just become another false start". I'm optimistic about
this one because having a catalog to reference data has been a long term
willing for the OSGeo-ES people, and there are active members doing
wiki-style catalogs for some time.

On the other hand, gvSIG would be a nice launcher for the catalog as
this could be the default one on its client. Take account that one of
the most successful sections of the gvSIG web page is the "free geodata"
section.

Summer (on the Northern Hemisphere, I know) could not be the best moment
to try to coordinate the configuration of the catalog but I'll be
available more or less all this month and the second half of August so
we can try to start with an IRC meeting.

On the meanwhile, I'll start dealing with the 2.4 release of Geonetwork
to see what's up.
