Thanks Charlie for the wikipage on certification. About the Certification, i understand that the QGIS community will be holding a meeting on IRC to discuss QGIS training and certification on Thursday 12 Feb 2015 and 14h00 GMT in the channel #qgis-certification

It will be good if we can contribute ideas and support them in their efforts. Unfortunately i won't be able to attend this as i have an important meeting scheduled at the same time , so if any of you are able to attend it please try to attend and update all.

As the Educator Award is planned to build synergies with the Open Education Week activities, it is on schedule. We have informed all colleagues and invite them to send nominations to your email before 28th Feb using the template at http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Geoforall_educatoroftheyear

Please collate all the entries received and then you can send it to all award committee members and arrange voting to select the one with maximum votes.

We will arrange to give the Educator award at FOSS4G-Europe in Como.

Suchith

Hello folks,

First, an apology. I am in a very strange travel situation in limbo waiting a visa with no regular access to the Internet. Otherwise I'd be more active. I did have access today though, so...

Following Patrick's suggestion for a summary report, I've created a wiki page for people involved to try and summarize the thinking on the Certification issue [1].

And great to see the wiki page on the Award issues [2] . Once I get settled -- in hopefully no more than 2 weeks -- I'll follow-up on the award process issues.

One question on the awards and that wiki page. What happened to the Teacher award discussion? Is that not part of this too?

Cheers,
Charlie Schweik

A thought. . .
What would be nice is if someone could encapsulate the certification process in a one page 'report' for just what is involved, the steps and the resources available serving those steps. We can make this a web page so that others can have something to refer to.
