[Geomoose-users] Linking/Joining

Jay, this is not a GeoMOOSE thing it is a MapServer thing. Currently
with MapServer your only option for joining file to a spatial file is as
a .dfb. It is fairly easy to do this and good documentation on
GeoMOOSE. Another option is to nightly just setup a process that joins
your data to the shapefile and use the shapefile.

Yet another option is to use PostGIS were you can do the joining on the
fly. There has been some discussion on the MapServer developer list
about extending the data formats you can join but I have not seen
anything concrete.

I usually either join the fields to the shapefile or setup a separate
script to generate a little report from the data in a database and
construct a hyperlink in GeoMOOSE to it.

Hope that helps,
Brian

Jay,

Although I have not done this myself yet Mapserver has documentation for
this
already under the "Mapfile Reference"

If I have a Parcels Shapefile and want to join to a database (by PID
number) how do I do this in GeoMoose?

Where I can select a parcel and all the data shows up from both tables
(dbf and database)....I guess what I need to know how to do is set up
the join/relate so the extra fields are available to be displayed in the
Info tab..

Thoughts?
Thanks
Jay
