[Geomoose-users] Adding GeoRSS to GeoMoose application

Thanks! It looks like the version of ms4w that we are using does not have the OGR library with GeoRSS capabilities so we need to work on that first.
Thanks again for the help.

Yep, a working Mapfile for the layer would work. OGR is the easiest way to go with MapServer.

GM 2.6's new MapSource structure should make it easier to add support for GeoRSS as a layer type but we're just looking at a developer release at the end of the week. (Not an RC or anything as we need to radically update the docs.)

I've used some really big GeoRss files directly in OpenLayers (skipping Mapserver), but I assume it would work through a map file as well. I can test my layer and let you know.

Isn't that all that would be required for GeoMoose to work as well? to have a working map file for the layer?

      Dara,

GeoRSS is a supported ogr format, http://gdal.org/ogr/drv_georss.html

I've not used or tested this specifically, but am under the impression that MapServer can be set to use gdal/ogr as data source then if ogr can read the GeoRSS. Then you can put the GeoRSS as a mapserv or wms source in a GeoMOOSE application just like any other.

More about ogr datasources in mapserver, here, http://mapserver.org/input/vector/ogr.html
