Jim,

We've done some experimenting with GeoMoose on Portables. Some UI redesign and such. I've also talked with some of the GeoMoose developers about starting up a companion GeoMoose UI specifically for portable use.

Depending on your remote use limitations, for example running autonomously and standalone presents some interesting wrinkles to the process, you may need to run everything on a portable device, GeoMoose at the very least a WMS service, and/or Mapserver, etc.

I've set things up as a GeoMoose client only approach using the cell connection for data access, as well as setting up a field enabled CPU with a synced copy of the data for fielduse that is not dependent on a data connection. I've also set up hybrid systems where some layers are local to the field device and others are accessed via the Cell connection.

I would be interested in participating in some joint discussions related to progressing this further within the GeoMoose development community.

Is anyone aware of any sites having GM designed for portable and hand held devices. Thanks.
