[Geomoose-users] Announcing RFC 8 GM 3 - Vector Editing

Hi Bob,
Mapserver & OGC API: I'm assuming Steve is not considering transaction/editing abilities (at least at this time)?

Multiple layers: GM 3 will return info from multiple layers from a simple query/info request now. i think it would be too much of a mind bender to edit multiple layers as the same time.

I may join in he TCUG to get Steve's take on editing features with MapServer.

All,

Steve L. has been working on enabling some of the OGC API functions in MapServer (I see this ref'ed in the RFC too). This may be an additional option to look at, in conjunction with WMS/WFS.

I know our system in our old (2.9.2) version of GeoMoose to hover and get all stacked (and active) layer features in one shot is old school, but might this be considered as an approach for pulling the data, and configure different options for handling the return.

BTW, I have Steve L. down for doing a presentation on his progress with the API stuff at the next TCMUG Meeting in Jan.

Think Before You Click: This email originated outside our organization.

Hi Eli,

Another solution is to cycle through the co-incident features on subsequent mouse clicks. Personally I like your solution 4) as it would give the ability to show the attributes of the co-incident features for further selection.

We may have to leave this edge case until after the initial implementation, but I'll leave that decision to Dan.

Best Regards,

Brent

Hi Brent,

This looks exciting!

In the Geometry editing section,

https://www.geomoose.org/rfc/rfc-8.html#geometry-editing there is a

step for, "User clicks on the map to select a feature." Does this

need another step after it or expansion? Assume three overlapping

polygons; the users clicks do you return 1) three selected polygons 2)

the "top" polygon 3) randomly one of the three or 4) some dialog box

or interaction opportunity to reduce the selection to just one

(presumably the tool will be disabled/ not work with more than one

feature selected)?

Best regards, Eli

If the review goes well, I'll call for a vote Monday and hopefully proceed with development in the next week or two.
