[GRASSLIST:5917] viewshed analysis and GRASS

Dear listers,

I was wondering if anyone could update me on the current state 
of viewshed analysis within GRASS? I have heard that the 
standard module r.los truncates viewer height to the nearest 
integer value. This is also borne out by my own use of it. 

There is also Mark Lake's r.cva module, which solves the 
viewer height problem, but as far as I understand this module 
has not been fully updated to the GRASS 5.x environment and 
treats floating point DEMs as integer maps.

Are there any plans to fix r.los so we at least have a basic 
working viewshed analysis module in GRASS?
