The combination of our email programs made this a bit hard for me to follow - I have cut and pasted the discussion back together again...

Q: What license is the documentation under? Creative Commons -- its on the doc page - we'll update the license accordingly -- http://www.postgis.org/documentation/manual-svn/

A: I think we need to put the same headers on teh 1.4 and 1.3 docs.

JG: Thanks

Q: Are all files expected to have headers?

A: No, well ideally they should but we decided its assumed if they don't have headers they are GPL. There are some files you will note that are BSD or MIT etc.
Guys correct me if I am wrong in that statement.

JG: Could I ask that we raise this as an issue in the issue tracker; and mark it in the providence review. There is no need to fix anything - we are just trying to get a list of known issues etc....

Q: Does the build process include any test data? And where did it come from?

A: I know for a fact a lot of the test data is from bug tickets and these all have ticket numbers as part of the SELECT statements.

The later ones are just made up or provided by the person who gave us the patch since moving forward we require all function patches to include tests.
Paul, Sandro, and Mark or Chris will have to clarify on the others
as they were there before I came on the scene.

JG: I understand; sorry my question was poorly worded.

I am more concerned about sample data used by documentation and tutorials. It is usually a small sample of real world data; and hard to hunt down where it came from. I know for uDig I am gradually using the Natural Earth dataset for my documentation as it is easier then turning back the clock.
