In Ubuntu Linux 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) when running the sample Sheboygan
Sample Dataset, the labels for the "Districts" and "Road Line" layers are
in some strange alien font instead of their expected font (Verdana)

It seems that MapGuide is having troubles locating the correct font.

I have limited knowledge of fonts in Linux, but I know that the Verdana
font is actually installed, as I can choose the font when customising the
appearance of my user interface in GNOME.

The workaround was to copy the actual font file directly into the "bin"
directory of the mapguide server directory.
