Map load times

I've noticed the same thing. I started with a certain few base layers
and performance was fairly good. I have since added quite a few others -
none of which are initially visible - and load performance has degraded.
Once the map is loaded, it seems about the same.  This is not
scientific; I haven't attempted to put numbers to it yet.

My map is taking abysmally long to start up. It averages somewhere
between 45s to a minute long to bring up a map.Note that map contains 27
layers, none of which are visible initially. 

For example: 

When brining up in DWF viewer, mapagent.fcgi?OPERATION=GETMAP takes 52
seconds

Are other people experiencing this problem, or is it just me? Any
