[mapguide-users] Move Default Repository Location?

Yes, those steps will work fine. I just backup my repositories as part of
an everyday disk backup and then can restore if needed. I have had to do
this more than once.. Yes, stop the MapGuide Server service first and then
restart once restored.

You may also want to look at the various scripts in the
Server\RepositoryAdmin folder. There is a PDF in there that describes the
scripts.

On a related note, I have a client that has been migrating a huge MapGuide
6.5 application to MGOS. Despite repeated warnings to backup their
repositories nightly, they neglected to implement a backup procedure.
Somehow their repositories became corrupted beyond the point of being
repaired and after a day or so of panic, they finally had to accept the fact
that they had lost about 150 man hours worth of work and had to start over.
Ouch.

Hello MapGuide Open Source Users,
To backup MapGuide Server, do you see any issues if I copy the Repositories
directory? Then if I have problems, just restore that directory?
This is the steps I'm plan on doing:

How to backup the Resources Database

*	Step 0: confirm the path to the resources
*	Login to MapGuide Site Administrator
(http://localhost:8008/mapguide/mapadmin/login.php)
*	on the left hand frame, under Manage Servers, click Configure
Services
*	Under the Resource Service heading, note the path for
*	Library data file folder
*	Library repository folder
*	Session data file folder
*	Session repository folder
*	Site repository folder
*	Installation default is to put all these folders under the
C:/Program Files/MapGuideOpenSource2.0/Server/Repositories directory
*	Step 1: Stop the MapGuide Server Service (Use Control Panel ->
Administrative Tools -> Services -> MapGuide Server v2.0)
*	Step 2: copy/backup or paste/restore the C:/Program
Files/MapGuideOpenSource2.0/Server/Repositories directory
*	Change the directory if different from Step 0
*	Step 3: Start the MapGuide Server Service (Use Control Panel ->
Administrative Tools -> Services -> MapGuide Server v2.0)
*	Notes
*	This will overwrite any changes to the User accounts as well
*	This will backup/restore the Session Repository/Storage Container
*	This will backup/restore the Library Repository/Storage Container
*	This will backup/restore the Resource Data/Data Files (e.g. shp,
sdf, ...)

Thanks for the help,

Thanks everyone for the help. I had a bad directory name, and it really
helped that Andy mentioned the MG Service won't start if this happens.

Subject: RE: [mapguide-users] Move Default Repository Location? This brings
up another point some people may not be aware of: if you mess up one of the
paths in Admin and then restart the service, it will fail to start. To fix
this, your only option is to manually edit the \Server\Bin\serverconfig.ini
file (something Jason originally pointed out to me). Andy

Personally, I find it "feels better" to stop the service, change the config
file manually, and then restart the service. I hate changing something when
it's running and responding to requests, etc. Jason

RE: [mapguide-users] Move Default Repository Location? If you make changes
to your repository path in Web Admin you need to stop and restart the server
