How to show high resolution image

I have a high resolution snapshot of worldwide weather that I am 
attempting to use in a similar manner.  The image looks real nice all by 
itself, but when I pass it through my mapserver application the image 
appears tiled.  Is this likely due to the number of colors in the 
original?  Is there any special magic to getting native resolution using 
the latest stable Mapserver?
