I worked with Google Adwords for a couple of years a while back, a lot has
changed since then.

A nice tool for getting new Keywords (apart from of corse Googles own tool)
is:

Another great sour of information on PayPerClick advertising is the
Marketing Experiments Website. Really interesting to have a look at the
Webclinics
