[Journal] introduction

[Barry Rowlingson]

Hi all OSgeo newsletter people,

  I've just subscribed so here's my obligatory introduction.

  I'm Barry Rowlingson, you'll find me on irc and elsewhere as
'spacedman'. I work at Lancaster University in the UK doing spatial
statistics research, mostly in medical applications since I'm
currently part of the School of Health and Medicine.

  My research covers basic statistics up to complex new methodologies,
so if there's masses of number crunching going on then that's for me.

 My main tools are R for statistics, Python for programming, and Qgis
for mapping.

Am looking forward to helping with the newsletter - I've registered as
a reviewer on the OJS site.
