[OpenLayers-Users] Properties of a Mapserver-Layer feature

Hello,

I'm wondering if it is possible to get the properties of a feature of a
Mapserver-Layer, knowing the map-position of the feature (for example the
mouse position in a click-event). I couldn't find any user manual for this
layer-type in the Class-Library of OL.
What I need is to get the ObjectID to be able to select the feature using
the Layer.mergeNewParams() method.
I would be also happy to hear of any better approach for the
feature-selection.
