Actually, that's not entirely true. Instead, this is a failing of
OpenLayers.Ajax, which has since been corrected in trunk:

http://trac.openlayers.org/ticket/534

So, had you been using SVN, you would have seen "Unable to call
XMLHttpRequest.open".
