 Maybe this is useful:
 I am able to reproduce on a non-osgeo4w command shell by executing

 C:\Users\asi>findstr  /i /r /c:"^\"[a-zA-Z]:[\\/][^\\/]"

 This call takes forever and ends with findstr crashing
