Mark, I looked over the patch in http://postgis.refractions.net/pipermail/postgis-commits/2008-August/000413.html and the *recheck value seems to never get used. So is the main thrust of the 8.4 compatibility just getting the opclass defns to work, by dropping the 'recheck' from the SQL? P.
