 Hello, just to let you know, I have briefly tested the solution in trunk
 and the output seems ok.

 I do not have enough knowledge about the inner workings of pgsql or
 postgis to comment on the potential memory leak.

 Suppose it does leak memory, is there any test I could run to force the
 leak to appear?

 Please let me know if I can be of any help.
