Hi Paul,
the lastest ebuild have been done and tests also. There is the log file 
here : http://01map.net/gentoo/logs/emerge.postgis-1.0.0.log.
The lastest gis port on gentoo (known as "portage.01map") is available 
for download here : 
http://01map.net/gentoo/portage.01map-20-04-2005.tar.bz2 .
