Perhaps, except that the software would likely have to be modified to add this 
step while Albers is already available with no software mod..

Also, below the CM is located at the eastern end of the Mediterranean (29E) 
between Crete and Cyprus. This does not seem suitable for an extent ranging 
from Gibraltar (6W) to Lebanon (36E).
