[PROJ] stripVerticalComponent vs demoteTo2D

Hi

In the class CRS I see two methods: stripVerticalComponent vs demoteTo2D
The implementations are different. But, is there any practical difference
in the result?
(Except that demoteTo2D is looking in the database in case there is an
equivalent definition there to assign an id, and that you can change the
name)
