Greetings,
In case you haven't been following along, QGIS has been allocated two
projects
for Google Summer of Code (GSoC) under the OSGeo umbrella. The
projects are:

* Home-range analyses in QGIS using R through Python by Anne Ghisla
* Enhance Labeling of Features by Galen Mecham

More information on these and the other OSGeo projects for GSoC 2008
can be
found at:

http://code.google.com/soc/2008/osgeo/about.html

Please welcome our two students into the QGIS community. I know we can
all learn
from this experience and I look forward to great new things in QGIS as
a result.
