Sorry I was unclear.
Well, if plugin developers ask to add their repo to standard ones rather
than adding their plugin to the official repo (globally the most
efficient choice), I think we have a problem. I am worried about much
work being underutilized or wasted, having very useful plugins not
effectively available to most users (and probably also to some
developers). This issue can increase dramatically over time, as QGIS is
getting more and more widespread.
What could be done? My opinions
1. advertize more the possibility to upload plugins to the standard repo
(e.g. Volkan, were you aware of this?)
2. integrate the repo into qgis (e.g. adding the possibility of
uploading plugins straight from the app)
3. integrate the repo with the main qgis web site
4. add an "experimental/sandbox" repo, to encourage devs to submit their
plugins as early as possible, and promote cooperation
5. add the usual popularity and rating stuff, that would also encourage
sharing and spreading plugin use.
We can help if useful.
All the best.
