[Qgis-developer] Ready to branch?

I just tested with the most recent nightly windows build (build 14528, qt
4.5.2) and the issue that one clicks on a checkbox of a layer and nothing
happens still exists.

One has to turn the layer off and on and off to turn it off. This is not
the case for all layers, but for some.

I heard that other people experienced similar issues (Paolo, Stefan, others).

I recommend not to go on with the 1.6 release until this issue is properly
resolved.
