[QGIS-Developer] Will the resource sharing plugin be ported to a core plugin? Or or similar functionality implemented?

Hi Aron, Alessandro,
I agree this would be an useful addition to qgis. Alessandro, I don't
remember the details of the reasons why this should not be included: do
you have a pointer to the discussion?
