FWIW - this PR was shut down and won't be included in Qt. Basically
the maintainers do not see the point of supporting single-platform
features like this in Qt.

If anyone is still interested in implementing this in QGIS, there's
also https://github.com/msorvig/qt-touchbar for inspiration.
