My personal preference would be for a totally closed, invite only
group, with NO recorded chat logs/offline history. While my primary
intention is that this is a social channel for contributors, I'm also
hoping it could act partially as a bit of a "support group"
environment for this community. There's a lot of us who are working
alone from home (or from very small team environments) due to current
social situations, and I think there's a strong need for the group to
facilitate deeper/more personal conversations at times.

So I'd rather see us err toward exclusivity/private chat options vs
open/public ones.
