Hi Bill,

Many thanks for your offer to contribute to QGIS 3D. It is highly
appreciated!

QGIS native 3D rendering was funded by QGIS.org and was carried out by us
in QGIS 3.0. Since then, there have been some major improvements (see QGIS
change logs [2], [3], [4] *) either through our crowd-funded campaign [5]
or funded by individuals or organisations. In recent months, my colleagues
have been helping through Google Summer of Code to improve navigation and
measurements in 3D. We have submitted a proposal to fix some issues with
large 3D scenes to QGIS.org, which the result of it will be announced soon.
Hopefully, that will bring us closer to have globe feature.

For contributing to QGIS, if it is a small feature, you can submit a pull
request and it will get merged after other developers review the code. For
larger changes, you will need to submit a proposal to QGIS Enhancement
Proposal [6] before hand to discuss the technical parts in details. Other
methods of discussing development plans are through mailing lists [7].

If you would like to fund development of certain features in 3D, feel free
to contact us or other core contributors directly [8].

Kind regards,
Saber
