What I have on ubuntu janty with qgis 1.2.0 is:

...
and everything seems to work.
Perhaps you should add a load workspace button within tab "Workspace". I
initially
thought that the .RData file would be loaded by default (which is
probably not
a good idea)
I like this version of manageR a lot!
