[Qgis-user] how to know if wms allows point sampling of the data

When searching for a suitable wms layer is there some key phrase or word that tells whether or not you can do anything other than just view the data. For example if I have a set of points and want to get the value of the underlying data from the wms layer at each of the points. most wms layers appear not to allow this, but other than just randomly trying large numbers of different wms services is there any way of identifying which might allow access to this underlying data?
