[Qgis-user] Question about Tips Dialog Box

I'm a long time QGIS and ArcGIS user but this is my first question here.

I've been using QGIS for tracking the fire hazards and fuel loads for my
local fire department. Recently I merged all of the emergency response
database information into QGIS allowing the firefighters to access
information about the calls they are responding to in real time, and this
has worked great.

I now have to train my "not very computer literate" firefighters in the
basics of QGIS, nothing too detailed. One minor annoyance I've noticed
during the classes I'm giving relates to the tips dialog that opens when you
start QGIS. If you start QGIS by double clicking on a project file, the tips
dialog appears when QGIS starts, and the project will not load until you
dismiss the dialog box.

I really like the tips feature and don't want to turn it off, but
occasionally someone will double click the project and then turn away to
some other task and forget that the project isn't actually loading. It can
take 5 minutes to load the complete project, so when someone forgets, it
takes time to catch up.

Is it possible to allow the project to load while the tip dialog is on
screen, or must the dialog be closed before QGIS can continue the load? Am I
missing something here?

I've tried this on 1.7.1 and 1.8 Trunk, OSGeo4W, Windows 7 Pro

Thanks in advance,
