I have filed a new ticket:  http://hub.qgis.org/issues/4403
http://hub.qgis.org/issues/4403  - I could not find any existing one.

I have to add that "merge selected features" and "merge attributes of
selected features" does not give to possibility to sum the attributes - the
only options are min, max or median.
