[Qgis-user] Edit MapInfo TAB files

What is your usage scenario ? For "read-only" work, QGIS  is - function 
wise - a drop-in replacement for MapInfo. For read/write work, you might 
consider using a data format, for example Postgis/Postgresql,  that can 
be edited by both MapInfo and QGIS.
