[Qgis-user] Text annotation on screen & in Print Composer

I've a couple of issues using text annotation with 1.8.0 under Windows:

(1) Is there any way to turn this on and off for a project like a normal
layer? The only way I've found so far is to delete the items which isn't
very user friendly.
(2) In Print Composer the text annotation is displayed much larger than on
the graphic screen. Am I missing some setting or is this a bug?
