[Qgis-user] How do I register a Google Map?

Simple jpeg files do not have any spatial information.

you should use the Open Layers plugin - you need to install it with the
Plugin Manager(Plugins->Manage and install plugins) and then add a Google
maps layer through the Plugins->Open layers menu item.
