Hi Jose, thank you for your answer. Yes, I mean a connection to qgis from other programs. For example, in ArcGIS I can get the main application using COM, with that I can get access to all other parts of ArcGIS: layers, GUI components etc. In QGIS I haven’t seen such a possibility, most probably because I know QGIS very little. I’ve read in forum one can use a timer in plugin. It should be possible, I think. But perhaps is there a more elegant way? Best regards,Gang Von: José Pedro Santos [mailto:zpsantos1 at hotmail.com]

Subject: [Qgis-user] Interprocess communicationHi, I’m new to QGIS and now using QGIS 2.0.1 on Windows PC (Windows 8). I have a question about QGIS communication with other application on the same machine, concretely, I would like to send some data to qgis from another program and let qgis, for example, zoom to the corresponding object. I’ve searched in the documentation and in internet. But I’ve found no proper answer. I hope someone can point me to a right direction. Thank you in advance and best regards Gang
