[Qgis-user] GEOPROCESSING: UNION of more polygons of different layers

I have recently used OGR VRT for this:

http://www.gdal.org/drv_vrt.html
*OGRVRTUnionLayer*

If you are not afraid of editing an XML file, that would be an approach.
