[Qgis-user] edge calculator

Not tested, but what about using the v.to.db function (grass function, does
not seem to be available in the toolbox, but you could have a look at the
GRASS tools addon).

With this function you can upload category numbers of left and right area,
to an attribute table of boundaries common for the areas. With the same
function, you can also upload the length of a line (need to check if that
works for boundaries as well, but I suspect it does). These two combined
should provide what you need? Check out the manual page
