[Qgis-user] $currentfield ?

Just found:

1. The expression is spelled $currfield, not $currentfield. It has been
renamed from "%%", which is what is written in the current (2.8) user
guide manual. I will create a bug report about the default action.

2. Actions may be run by right click on an attribute value in the
attribute table or in the identify results panel. In this cases [%
$currfield %] is replaced with the selected attribute value.
