[Qgis-user] launch error after recent updates

I've been running QGIS on a Chromebook for a few years.
After the recent updates, it's no longer launching for me, which has never been a problem before.
Trying to launch QGIS from the command line gives me the following response:
QGIS starting in non-interactive mode not supported.You are seeing this message most likely because you have no DISPLAY environment variable set.

Can anyone make any suggestions as to how to rectify this issue so that I can resume running QGIS?  Again, this was never an issue prior to the updates over the past few days.
